Colleen Downey, co owner of Indianapolis Doulas, is a strong and steady presence for all of her clients, and well respected in the Indianapolis community. Since 2011, Colleen has brought her passion for supporting families to doula work, and has a special interest in breastfeeding, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and cesarean birth.
Colleen is a ProDoula CD Postpartum & Infant Care Doula, Postpartum Placenta Specialist, Labor, and PDCCE, and works in the agency as a postpartum doula, postpartum placenta specialist, birth doula, and childbirth educator. Colleen also maintains First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
Colleen grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and lives in Brownsburg with her husband, two sons, two cats, and a dog. In her down time, she loves reading, drinking Starbucks Breve Lattes, hiking with her family, and catching up on episodes of Parks and Rec. Her family is the most important thing in her life.
Elisabeth Lighty, co owner of Indianapolis Doulas, is a nurturing and compassionate companion to all of her clients, and maintains strong relationships with care providers in the Indianapolis metro area. Since 2013, Elisabeth has brought her attentiveness to the emotional needs of others to doula work, and has a special interest in the feelings experienced by the entire family during the childbearing year, body image, sleep training, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
Elisabeth is a ProDoula CD Postpartum & Infant Care Doula, Labor, and a pre-CD Postpartum Placenta Specialist, works in the agency as a postpartum doula and sleep coach, and maintains First Aid/CPR certification. She has a BA in English and Master of Liberal Arts degree, and her writing has appeared on Scary Mommy, Huffington Post, and Indianapolis Moms Blog (Here and here).
After growing up in the Philadelphia area, Elisabeth moved to Indiana in 2013 and now lives in Irvington with her husband, two sons, and cat. In her downtime, she loves reading, perusing garage sales with her family, spending time outside in the sunshine, napping, and hot baths. The most important thing in her life is living authentically and connecting with others on a deep level.
