Balance.

Centering.

Restoration.

These are the gifts of the placenta.

This amazing organ that nourished your baby can now nourish you as you recover from pregnancy and childbirth. Tap into the healing power of the placenta.

Placenta encapsulation is the processing of the placenta after birth with the intention for the mother to consume it.

Our postpartum placenta specialists carefully prepare your placenta for consumption in the comfort of your own home. When Indianapolis Doulas encapsulates your placenta, you’ll appreciate:

  • Our use of the Traditional Method. This age-old approach stems from Traditional Chinese Medicine, and its hallmark is steaming the placenta prior to dehydrating it. This step balances the hormones present in the placenta while also decreasing the risk of bacterial contamination.
  • A commitment to safety. Our postpartum placenta specialists are professionally trained in handling blood borne pathogens in accordance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard 29 CFR 1910.1030, and follow Universal Precautions throughout the process.
  • Client transport standards. We will provide detailed instructions and all necessary materials for you to safely transport your placenta. By transporting your placenta yourself, you gain peace of mind knowing it is indeed your placenta.
  • Processing only in your home. The entire process takes place in your kitchen, so you can see every step (if you want to!).

  • Compression helps muscles and organs return to pre-pregnancy positions
  • Minimize back, shoulder, and neck pain
  • Assists with correct posture
