We want to talk to you, connect with you, and get you set up with exactly what you’re looking for in terms of birth support

When you contact Indianapolis Doulas, we spend time talking with you about your hopes and fears and answering any and all questions you might have. We then match you with the doula team that is exactly right for you, your baby, and your entire family.

That’s right, you get a team of birth doulas.

Two doulas who come out to your home for a private consultation.
Two doulas to call and email throughout the entire pregnancy.
Two doulas who are professionally trained by the same certifying organization, ProDoula, and held accountable to the same standards.
Two doulas who come to your home for prenatal visits, meet with you and your family, and help you craft the birth and postpartum plan that is just right for you.
Two doulas who share a call schedule, so that when the big day comes you feel so safe and secure knowing that one of your doulas will be with you throughout the labor and birth. (Did we mention that this means you never have to even think about what will happen if your doula can’t make it to the birth? Because no matter what, one of your doulas will be there. We don’t believe in backup doulas here.)

How will I know when labor starts?

There are some hallmark signs of labor starting, but if you’re not sure, call your doula! Your on-call doula, who is completely familiar with your family’s birth plan, who knows you and your family inside and out, is ready to talk to you at any time, day or night.

You might talk once. You might talk 12 times. But eventually, when you ask her to, your doula will join you.

She will meet you at home or at the hospital–whatever you want, whatever feels right to you in the moment.

She will be with you every step of the way.

In triage, she can explain what’s happening if you’re not sure.

After hospital admission, she will be constantly assessing and adjusting to meet the needs of your family.  She might offer a backrub, breathing guidance, hand holding, a pep talk. Whatever you and your family need in the moment, she will provide it. And whether your baby is born vaginally or via cesarean section, she will be as involved and present as you want her to be while always complying with hospital protocols.

She will always be professional and respectful toward every member of your care team. Your OB. Your nurses. The anesthesiologist. Anyone and everyone involved in your birth.

We are still here for you after your baby is born.

After the hard and amazing work of having a baby, you can feel confident knowing that your doula is there to support your family. She will support your feeding plan–whether that includes breastfeeding, bottle feeding, a combination, or supplementation. She will stay with you and your family until you are settled in, and after about an hour, she will leave you to bond and nurture your new baby as your family transitions into the “new normal.”

You can call your doula at any time after your baby arrives, and when you’re ready, she will come to your home for a postpartum visit. You can talk about your experience, ask questions, or just look at your baby together.

We are so proud of the unique experience we offer to our clients in the Indianapolis metro area. And we can’t wait to work with you and your family!
